Rickman, TN: Bilbrey Crossing - Jake and Becca
Jake moved to Tennessee a few years back. He met Becca through mutual friends and they both enjoyed hanging out together with friends. At a point when they were both single, they started talking more and a casual friendship quickly became more. Nine months later on a day last April, while walking over a swinging bridge at a local state park, Becca noticed how nervous Jake had suddenly become because he was shaking. To Becca’s surprise he looked at her and said, “Becca, you know what I’m gonna ask you?” In true Becca form, she replied, “Yes, but I still want you to get down on one knee and ask me.”
The day dawned overcast and drizzly the day of their wedding. Jacob had remarked to Becca the night before their wedding how flawlessly their wedding had been coming together. At around 6 AM they received news that all the BBQ they had purchased had been ruined by the power going out overnight. Becca started to stress out, but Jake calmly took matters in hand and just ordered more from a different place. After that major crisis was averted, everything else during the day flowed seamlessly.
Before the ceremony, you could find men learning to tie ties, Jake’s young sons running around the venue laughing in their little bow ties, and family in the kitchen prepping lunch. In the room where Becca and her sisters were prepping, a cloud of hairspray was thick in the air, but voices were cheerful. Becca’s mom helped her slip into her much-anticipated wedding dress which had been a closely guarded secret, so she would do a reveal with her sister and then her father.
Becca and Jake had decided that the first time Jake would get a glimpse of Becca in her dress would be walking down the aisle. The moment did not disappoint. As Becca floated down the aisle on the arm of her father, tears started rolling down Jake’s cheeks. In a short ceremony, they committed their lives to each other. After walking back down the aisle, Jakob broke down while giving Becca an enormous bear hug. The couple ended their day with plenty of BBQ and lots of quality time with those they love amid a few dances with their boys.
Jake and Becca, it was an honor to be asked to document your special day. I love watching you two together. You compliment and prefer each other (even if done with sarcasm) so sweetly. I’m still amazed Jake didn’t smash cake in your face Becca – that alone told me he is crazy about you. I wish you both a lifetime of happiness and am excited to see what the future holds for you both!
