Parker City, Indiana: Parker City Christ Fellowship -Kevin and Megan

Megan caught Kevin’s eye at a game night his family had been strategically invited to by Megan’s family. They had a fun night playing games as a group, but due to their age difference, Megan went away not thinking another thing of it. However, she remained a thought in Kevin’s mind from then on. After a few months of praying about it and asking her older brother questions about her, he worked up his nerve to call her father, Tom. He asked Tom for permission to call her and for her number. It is now a family joke that Tom gave him a phone number he thought was Megan's, but he wasn't really sure if it was her or her sister's number. Thankfully for Kevin, it was indeed Megan’s number. When he called Megan to ask her to dinner to talk, she wasn’t surprised since her family had let her know he planned on it to help her warm up to the idea. Megan agreed to go to Panera Bread with him, and then agreed to go again…and again. Kevin ended up being just the kind of guy she had been waiting for. Kind, thoughtful, and always going out of his way to serve others, his speed of life matched exactly what she could handle. So, after almost a year together, she agreed to go on a hike with him for her birthday at a nearby favorite pond they often walked to. She tried to invite her cousin to join them, but to Kevin’s relief, she politely declined Megan’s invitation to join them. When they got to the pond, they stood for a few moments before Kevin turned and got down on one knee revealing a gold solitaire ring. Totally shocked, Megan said yes.

After 95-plus-degree heat all week, Megan and Kevin’s wedding day dawned a cool 70 degrees. In true Indiana form, a delightful breeze blew making the trees surrounding the church bend and wave and the leaves rustle. It was as if even the weather was excited about the happy day. The couple decided to get married at Parker City Christ Fellowship, a circular, brick church with huge white pillars. The church had been hard at work making everything perfect for the couple’s big day. The ladies got ready in the stain-glassed chapel while the music of the bride’s favorite songs played in the background and happy voices floated down the hallways.

Kevin asked to see Megan for the first time by the white pillars of the church before the ceremony so he would have a few quiet moments with his bride before the full afternoon started. Then, before they knew it, it was time for Megan to walk down the aisle. The pianist and cellist swelled their playing as the doors opened and revealed a packed church and Kevin waiting at the end of the aisle. The service was filled with examples of the couple’s love for Christ. From the congregation being asked to sing hymns with them, to the Pastor sharing the couple’s life verses, to braiding a rope showing how God would be woven in their relationship, to half traditional and half-written vows, and to the parents praying over the couple …. sharing Christ was obviously the couple’s objective with their ceremony and plan for their future lives. After the moment of their very first sweet kiss, the couple came back down the aisle and made sure to greet each and every guest who came to celebrate with them.

At the reception, glass plates and goblets glittered in the sun on tulle-graced tables that had the bride’s favorite books on them as décor. Platters of finger foods also adorned the table for the throngs who had come to celebrate the happy couple. Every seat was filled with all their friends and family. A slideshow played in the background till the couple was able to come in and cut the cake. They also gave a sweet speech together sharing their testimony and love story with all their loved ones. Shortly after, they left amid bubbles being blown and lots of cheers.

Megan and Kevin, there are no words to say all that was in my heart after your special day that we had prayed for, for so long. It was just perfect in every way and I am so happy for both of you. Your wedding day was a dream and one could already see God’s blessing on your union. I can’t wait to see how God uses you both to further His kingdom!
