Walling, Tennessee: Sherry Vinson Farms Spring Wedding - Mitchell and Cortney
Cortney met Mitchell while working together at Belacinos. They became fast friends, but Mitchell ended up joining the Coast Guard and moved to Louisiana. In 2013 he came back for Christmas to visit family. While Mitchell was back at home, he and Cortney reconnected and decided to start a long-distance relationship. They talked back and forth for eight months, and when Mitchell got orders to move to Boston, he asked Cortney to move with him. Cortney said yes. In July of 2017, they decided to go for a weekend to Vermont. They spent the weekend camping next to a pretty lake at a State Park. Little did Cortney know that Mitchell had more than just an ordinary getaway planned. When they were fixing to go on a boat cruise around the lake, Mitchell pulled over the car at an overlook and proposed.
They chose to get married on a beautiful, spring Saturday in May. The sun shone brilliantly overhead at Sherry Vinson Farms with a slight breeze waving newly sprouted leaves. An explosion of peach, pink, and white flowers were everywhere you looked. No one in the bridal party acted in a hurry, and yet everyone was perfectly on time. Calmness reigned in the house as the bridal party got ready amidst laughter and joking that is only shared with real friends.
After just spending a few hours with the couple and watching them banter back and forth, it was easy to see why they were so drawn to each other. Cortney has the sweetest spirit and easy smile. Nothing seemed to stress her, and she had the most welcoming demeanor. Mitchell clearly adored his new bride and treated her like a queen. While he was a gentleman, one could quickly tell he still loved to have a good time.
In front of the pond, with the sound of the fountain splashing in the background, Mitchell stood tall and straight in his uniform waiting for his bride to walk down the aisle toward him. After so many years together, one kiss wasn’t enough after they said I do. They snuck in an extra kiss before heading back down the aisle while their families and friends cheered.
Later that evening as the sun set, everyone drove around to the open aired pavilion for a meal and dancing. Most people leave a reception pretty quickly, but Mitchell and Cortney’s friends and family apparently enjoyed spending time together and were glad for a reason to celebrate. They all laughed, danced, and chatted while a family friend strummed song after song on his guitar, and the sun finished setting over the horizon.
Mitchell and Cortney, Y'all were such a pleasure to get to know. I still can’t get over how easy going you both were, despite the heat. You made my job a breeze – and for that I thank you. It was a joy to get to be apart of your beautiful day. It was lovely to watch two people who obviously are a good match for each other get married. Like I said above, it was easy to see why you both were drawn to each other. I wish you both the best as you start the new chapter of your relationship and marriage in North Carolina!
