Lauren + Alan Engagement: Standing Stone State Park, Livingston, Tennessee
It’s hard to wait to propose when you have an engagement ring burning a hole in your pocket.
Alan’s original plan was to propose to Lauren at his family’s upcoming vacation at Fall Creek Falls the next week. That was before he got the ring. After just having it one day he decided he was too excited to wait till the next week as planned. Friday, Alan conferred with Lauren’s brother, Micah, and made plans for that evening. Micah was to linger behind in the driveway after the family got back from the movies so he could take pictures of the proposal. Only there was one small problem. Micah totally forgot there was a job he was supposed to do when they got back home. He headed straight inside with the rest of the family. Not to be deterred, Alan stood in “their spot” with the ring in his hand. This spot was the same place he had asked Lauren to be his girlfriend just a little over a year before. It also held the memory of their first kiss. That night he completed the romantic circle and made it also the spot he asked her to marry him. There under the dark December sky with only stars to illuminate the ring, a thrilled Lauren said yes. Normally after being proposed to you immediately show the ring off to everyone you know. While they did share the news with Lauren’s family (and a sheepish Micah) that night, Lauren had to take her beautiful ring off for church on Sunday so word wouldn’t leak out before they told his family. On Monday Lauren walked into the family’s cabin holding a coffee mug that said “Does this ring make me look engaged?”
This past Monday Alan and Lauren came my way for their engagement session. Some couples make your job easy. Alan and Lauren are one of those couples. I can already tell they are going to be a blast at their wedding in March. They brought Lauren’s family with them and I learned right away that if I need them to smile, all I need is Micah over my shoulder. I love it when happiness just oozes out of pictures. I’m pretty sure it does in these.
